Sound wise it produces a somewhat lighter sound with crisper attacks than the Optimumit's a less substantial piece of metal, which is part of the reason. And like bike helmets, you pay more for less. But I think in this case, it's worth the extra coin. This rose gold edition is simply gorgeous. Really, the pictures don't do it justice!
