Harvey [1597 1663] was born to his puritan divine father, also Christopher Harvey, who was friends with Samuel Torshell, and others. Upon his father's death, his mother married the puritan, Thomas Pierson. He was one of the truly great devotional poets of the era and published a series of poems that were issued as "The
