Ruscus aculeatus - Butchers Broom Climber A slow grower reaching upThis Eurasian evergreen shrub grows well in part to full shade in moist soils and will eventually form a large clump about 1m. The leaves on this plant are actually a phylloclade, a modified stem that performs the photosynthesis that leaves would called a phylloclade. These flowers turn into red berries that look quite strange and out of place growing from the middle of the leaf. These red berries last well into winter.
